WHAT’S INCLUDED IN A ROOF REPLACEMENT?

When the time comes for a roof replacement, it will entail much more than just replacing shingles. Here’s what you can expect from the process:

1. TEARING OFF SHINGLES

If your shingles are cracking or curling, we will likely recommend a full roof replacement. This means tearing off all the shingles down to your roof decking.

2. DECKING INSPECTION

After tearing away the shingles, we will inspect the roof’s wood decking to determine if it needs repairs or has deteriorated enough to warrant replacement.

3. UNDERLAYMENT REPLACEMENT

We will replace your roof’s underlayment, a water-resistant barrier placed directly over the decking. The most common underlay material is roofing felt with asphalt for its protective layer.

4. NEW FLASHING

Roof valleys, skylight and chimney perimeters, and other areas where runoff is heavy need extra protection from flashing, a rustproof material to protect these vulnerable areas.

5. ICE DAM AND DRIP EDGING PROTECTION

Finally, we will install new metal drip edging along the edges of the roof, including the eave sides. In addition, we can also install a water and ice barrier to protect against melting ice backing up under the shingles.
